Hi, I thought I'd let you know a little about myself.
I grew up around golf as a child. From dad carrying me on his shoulders to view the Buick Open in Grand Blanc Michigan, to playing the game for recreation like most of you, and I am pretty much self taught.
I grew up in Flint, Michigan working part time jobs from the age of 14 to the age of 18 and through high school. I graduated in 1975, worked a couple more years at the local A&P store waiting to be hired into the car building business. That’s because in 1977, in a town nicknamed Buick City, that's just what most young kids did. College was not in the picture, or at least it wasn't in my thoughts at that time. Then in 1978 I married the love of my life, and we raised two of the greatest children.
Your probably saying, where are you going with this, what does this have to do with golf?

Well I'm going to get to that soon.
Through the years working for GM, I'm sure a few of you can relate to this, I got on the golf league just about every year. I met so many nice people from hackers, to the more skillful Players, that struggled with the game. I carried as low as a 1 handicap at times for nine. (we won't talk about the highs, but you know how golf can be. Its a humbling game and it's knocked me around a couple of times, ha ha)

Well, what I'm getting at is that I have been to where a lot of you are right now! Over the years I have witnessed so many people, on the course and at the driving range, that I would have loved to give advice to. Even though I had some knowledge, I didn't have the credentials to teach .

So this is where it began, I believe I  had more of a passion to teach the game, than to play the game I love! So one day with my idea, and the backing of a friend, I decided to follow through with my desire to teach the game. I got in touch with the United States Golf Teachers Federation (USGTF), and set up a date to meet and complete the USGTF's requirements to qualify to teach this great game. In 2006, I was certified to be an instructor, and well on my way to fulfilling my dream to teach others the game of golf.
In 2007 I retired from GM which gave me more time to study the game's many resources such as

Bill Baldwin, Master Instructor. What a great guy, and resource who has joined our facility at Lake Nepessing Golfland, where I teach. From the Junior camps working with the total beginners, to the older students with bad habits,

this has inspired me even more to continue on my path.
With technology and understanding, it will sure make it a lot easier to enjoy such a great game! If some of you out there are a little  apprehensive about getting that first lesson, I can assure you this, we will have fun on your ride to getting better at this fantastic game. So hop on board for a great ride !
